Achillion

Achillion palace is located in the mountain village Gastoyri , ten kilometers southwest of the town of Corfu . The Highway Corfu – Achilles following a straight path to the area Ponti , turns left to Keynes point and converted into a snaky road that ascends through olive groves , unfolding before the eyes of the visitor, the rich vegetation of this beautiful area of the island.

Facing today was the imposing figure of the Palace , can not but be swept away to another time , when the palace was the resort two forms of European History , that the only audience that had between them was the worship to Corfu, Greece and its culture. The Empress Elizabeth of Austria-Hungary , the famous Sissi , and Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany ‘ .She built it to come and forget the pain , he bought after her death , but the war , he declared , did not let him be happy .During the First and Second World War , the palace was occupied , used for other purposes and unfortunately looted.

After years of rebuilding and refurbishment , the Palace has been restored to its former glory.
